Students will discover the beauty of authentic Hula dancing and utilize hand props such as uli ulis and bamboo sticks while learning Tahitian-style dance.
*Students may wear comfortable clothing such as shorts, yoga pants, t-shirt or tank top. Hair should be pulled back neatly. Students will be bare foot for this class.
Prima Hawaiian class runs September through May. The season ends with a beautiful recital which gives dancers a chance to shine in front of family and friends! The recital experience helps children build self esteem and contributes to a sense of confidence. The rehearsal process of learning a dance helps children develop retentions skills and the ability to work as a team. Prima Hawaiian students perform 1 dance + finale in recital. They will begin learning routine around the end of January. We have tried to make our recital as family friendly and enjoyable as possible. The recital is not mandatory to participate in this class.
