Class Descriptions/What to Wear/Find a Class
Fall 2024-2025 Season
Recital Track Classes Begin September 9, 2024
Recital classes run from September through May building upon skills learned.
Note for Parents before registering: the age deadline for Recital Track Classes is October 31st and the age deadline for Session 1: 8 Week Courses is September 9th (or the start date of each session)!
Schedules are subject to change depending on popularity of classes. We will add/change classes as needed.
Tutu Level
Ages 3-5
Tutu Ballet Plus Tap
45 minute class
Level 1: Ages 3-4
Level 2: Ages 4-5
Children will practice the basic elements of creative movement and basic ballet. The children will beencouraged to expand their movement vocabulary through movement games and creative exploration of time, weight and space. Basic ballet concepts such as 1st and 2nd positions, plié and releve will be introduced. Fun, creative elements such as stories, games and other imaginative activities will keep the pace of the class lively and engaging. Tap will be introduced with a focus on rhythm and coordination.
Starlet Level
Level 1: Ages 5-6
Level 2: Ages 6-7
Starlet Triples Ballet/Tap/Jazz
Level 1: 60 minute class
Level 2: 75 minute class
In this class, students will get a taste of three genres of dance: ballet, tap and jazz. Ballet positions, aswell as basic ballet vocabulary are taught along with floor exercises, simple steps and correct posture. A greater emphasis on musicality and rhythm is encouraged. Jazz will be introduced using upbeat "kid friendly" music. Basics such as isolations, jazz squares, pivots will be taught. Tap will build upon basic steps and rhythms.
Starlet Hip Hop
45 minute class
This class serves as an introduction to hip hop dance for the younger student. Hip-hop focuses on rhythm, musicality and basic footwork. It is a great way to get kids moving!
Starlet Musical Theater
45 minute class
Musical theater class consists of acting games, voice exercises, dance, improvisation, performing and more! By the end of the season, your dancer will learn so much about the world of theater and will walk away feeling like a Broadway star!
Prima Level
5 Levels: Ages 7-12
Prima Ballet
60 minute class
This class will cover the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. It is a more formal setting that will give students the discipline to mature as dancers. The importance of strength, flexibility, rhythm, musicality, and memorization will be stressed. Basics of performing will be introduced.
Prima Contemporary
30 minute class
This class is in the style of So You Think You Can Dance. Contemporary combines ballet and jazz techniques. Class will focus on strong rhythmic connection, isolations, levels and spatial awareness. Must be taking Ballet to take this class.
Prima Jazz
60 minute class
Jazz dance is a fun and energetic style. The class includes a warm-up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises and then moves across the floor to work on turns, leaps, jumps and runs. Each class ends with a fast-paced combination.
Prima Tap
60 minute class
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students’ progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Prima Hip Hop
60 minute class
In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of hip-hop movement. It is an upbeat and high-energy class! Stretching, isolations, rhythms, musicality, upper body strength and funky footwork will all be incorporated. Students will learn to memorize choreography by working on a combination each
class.
Prima Musical Theater
60 minute class
Musical theater class consists of acting games, voice exercises, dance, improvisation, performing and more! By the end of the season, your dancer will learn so much about the world of theater and will walk away feeling like a Broadway star!
Next Level
(Ages 13-18)
It is with great excitement and anticipation that we announce the start of a new program: Next Level TDC for ages 13 and up!
The question of, “What happens next?” has been asked many times since we opened our doors! We love teaching our young dancers, but as our original group of students grow, we have realized our passion to grow with them! This is where Next Level was born.
We are thrilled to introduce this program and explore this extraordinary opportunity in taking our students to the Next Level in their dance education!
Ballet
